The Polar Bear

Shared writing

Our wonderful group of authors created this short burst writing spine poem on the polar bear. For this task, the children observed an image of a polar bear and identified words to describe the image. Key features were identified and further explored. Ideas such as feelings, other senses and comparisons that can be made were discussed. Following this, with teacher guidance, a shared poem was created.

The Polar Bear

The dark beady eyes scan the sea ice searching for its prey, the seal.

Twitching, its wet snout sniffs and snuffles, searching for a life saving meal.

White, camouflage fur blends in with the glittering glaciers.
