Registrations CLOSED – Get excited for the Year 4 – 6 Term 3 literacy workshop!
Due to the fun and success of the homeschool writing workshops during Term 2, I have on offer an ‘information writing’ workshop. This writing unit aims to celebrate the beauty of the natural world, and in particular creatures located in the North and South Poles. Children will explore and use elements of persuasion and explanation in their writing.
The workshop will run each Wednesday for 9 weeks during Term 3. The first workshop begins on 20th July, 2022.
The ‘Talk for Writing’ approach to teaching non-fiction is lots of fun and made a tremendous difference with the students in my classroom. Students engage in fun short burst writing activities, drama, poetry, the creation of text maps, boxing up the structure of the model text, shared writing and guided writing.
With this information writing ‘Ice Matters’ workshop, your child will:
- engage with other young writers in generating ideas to refine their spoken & written expression
- celebrate the beauty of the natural world in the context of the North and South Poles
- build on their grammar, comprehension and vocabulary
- gain tools to enhance their writing
- directly improve their reading skills
- build upon their research skills and the language used in presenting information
- author an independent information writing piece, alongside other young authors
There will only be one workshop available this term with 10 spots available for interested families. There are two payment options: full up front payment or a payment plan of $25 each week. If you wish to pay per week, you will need to pay the first weeks payment of $25 to secure your spot. An invoice will be sent following this first payment.
