Despite Kyogre being a decent Pokémon and stronger in a battle against Groudon, I firmly believe it is the better Pokémon overall. Groudon is bulkier, has a great ability to help with it’s typing and (in my opinion) is the cooler Pokémon . For these reasons, I believe that the Continent Pokémon is the greater Pokémon.
To start with, Groudon’s base stats are bulkier, meaning he (unlike Kyogre) has higher attack and defence. With a base stat of 150 attack and a defence of 140. Making him the stronger, physical move user.
Additionally, Groudon has the ability “Drought” which has the same effect as the move “Sunny Day”, bringing harsh sunlight to the battle court, making a power increase to fire type moves. In its primal reversion, instead of having “Drought” it has “Desolate Land” which makes water type moves “evaporate” and have no effect at all making him invulnerable to his water weakness.
Lastly, Groudon (in my opinion) is cooler than Kyogre, literally looking like as if it was wearing armour and you have to agree with me you can’t go into battle with a dumb looking Pokémon.
In conclusion, Groudon despite having his water weakness, stands out as an amazing ground type Pokémon. With his high attack and defence he is a much better physical move user. His great ability bringing harsh sunlight to the battle court makes harder to defeat. Finally, in my opinion, he is just really cool looking. For these reasons I believe he is the stronger Pokémon overall.
