One of my favourite projects was transforming a coffee table into a chess & coffee table. The key steps were:
- sanding back the table top
- taping up the chess board
- painting a stain over the table
- removing the tape
- varnishing the table
- painting the base of the coffee table
The final piece to the game table was purchasing wooden chess pieces.
I was very happy with the outcome of this project.
