When I Played the Rusty Flute

written by Grace

When I played the rusty flute

The toucan tuned its tambourine,

Maddie, the monkey, made marvellous marshmallows,

An alligator ate an adorable apple,

A baby baboon bent a banana,

A rotten raspberry rolled off the roller coaster.

When I played the rusty flute

A dice sang,

A Rolls-Royce screamed as it got scratched,

The clock cried as it ran out of batteries,

A wine bottle danced to the music,

And a clothes hanger tightened its bow tie.

When I played the rusty flute

A Chow Chow barked like a pit bull,

The owl slept like a koala,

Waves crashed as loud as thunder,

The baby was as fragile as glass,

And the car zoomed by like the flash.

After I sat down the rusty flute in its ancient case,

I hid away my memories,

Locked them away with chains and

Locked up my heart, with its love and compassion.
